Very purple; with a bit of a watery rim. On the nose I get cola, cherry, earth and mushroom. This wine is so much more like a French Burgundy then a California Pinot Noir. The fruit flavors are secondary to a very complex richness. A bit of truffle, spice, vanilla and cola on the entry. Very subtle red cherries in the mid-palate. A lighter purple color that can be seen through. The nose opens up with cherry cola, barnyard and earth. Medium acid with soft tannins. The palate concurs with the nose, although there are strawberry flavors on the tart finish. A little more earth driven than a typical California Pinot Noir.
